Hawker Hurricane Mk1.
At least ten Hurricane Mk1 aircraft of the RATG (Royal Air Force Training Group) were based at Norton Air Base, Central Flying School, Royal Rhodesian Air Force (1944-1945).
Due to the high temperature in the tropics the aircraft were painted with silver dope.

The kit is an Airfix 1:48 scale. I bought the kit about twenty years ago – only finished it in 2023.
Old Volks don't die - they just go faster!
I bought this Volkswagen Cabrio over thirty years ago. My original plan was to build it as a typical classic, with more detail. But as I started to build it, some thirty years ago, I discovered the kit’s shortcomings. Some detail was not correct, some parts did not fit well, and some mouldings, especially the chromed plastic parts had a lot of flash. In frustration I put all the parts back in the box and placed it back in my stash cupboard – for a later date.
That later date happened midway through 2025 when I went through my stash to see what was there. On the spur of the moment I decided to build a ‘much’ modified Beetle, and this is the result. It is far from perfect, but I know from many reference photos that these types of ‘race’ Beetles are seldom perfect looking. I must admit this model is probably the worst kit I’ve even built, and it actually came out better than what I expected.
This one has (probably) a 2140cc turbo charged, nitrous injection, flat four engine, probably giving in the region of about 250kw. The quarter mile comes up in (probably) about 11 seconds.
