During the Rhodesian war Landmines were a constant threat but we managed to design and build some of the most effective Landmine Protected vehicles in the world. The common old Land Rover was also modified to such an extent that in the event of a landmine explosion the occupants rarely suffered more than cuts, bruises and occasionally acoustic trauma.

This diorama is based on an incident in 1976 when two Landys, with four territorial soldiers who were on call-up, were dispatched with supplies to a base in the Maranke Tribal Trust Land in the east of Rhodesia. Just five kilometres from their destination the lead vehicle detonated a TM46 Landmine with its left rear wheel.

The driver, Rifleman Chris Jenkins and his passenger Rifleman Jose Mendes sustained minor injuries and were given first aid by the passenger in the second Landy, Lance Corporal Kirk Ryan. Corporal Larry Jamison was the driver of the second Landy.
